How to use Journal Finder

Journal Finder lists all the journals you have access to through the Tavistock and Portman library.
It replaces our old "One-Stop-Shop for Journals".

Journal Finder will help you access the full-text of those journals in a few clicks or let you know if we have it at the library in print.

To learn how to access and use Journal Finder, you can follow this tutorial or have a look at the presentation below, or the video underneath.

And don't forget to reach out if you've got any problem. Just email the library!

How to log in on Wiley Online Library?

The Tavistock and Portman library subscribes to 30,000 journals, and most of them are online.
But they are hosted by many different providers and all of them have a slightly different way to log in...
The good news are:
  • For all of those providers, you only need to remember one password: your Shibboleth password.
  • I'm going to run a series of tutorials showing you exactly how to log in on those different platforms.
So let's begin with Wiley Online Library in this first tutorial.

And remember, if you have any problem accessing an online journal, just ask the library: we will do our best to help you!

Tutorial: how to access your reading list?

Some of my colleagues work all summer long to prepare online reading-lists based on the lists your tutors send us.
Those are full of online versions of books and journal articles, links towards websites, options to get physical documents out of the library... And all are directly related to your seminars and lectures!

The tool we use to put the reading lists online has a very clean look, but we do know that, sometimes the meaning of all the little icons can be quite unclear.
So, here is a tutorial I created, specifically to show you around the reading-list and help you discover some features you may not know.
For example, you will learn how to put books on hold directly from your list, how to organise it by themes using tags and how to browse it by book covers!

... so try it out now!

How to find a document ? A tutorial

On this blog, we already have whole sections explaining how to find a book or an article.

But at the library, we just got a brand new software enabling us to create tutorials... So the temptation was too great: you will find here a brand new tutorial showing you how to find a document if you know its reference.

Try it out and tell us if you liked it!
